This week I discovered -Balmain Road Antiques Centre

I can't remember where I heard about this but I was totally stunned and amazed that I hadn't heard about it before! Being a regular visitor to Rozelle and an antiques/vintage fan I was quite frankly shocked to hear that there was an antiques centre that I hadn't heard about so close to one of my regular haunts!

A couple of the exciting little nooks to explore at Balmain Rd Antiques

There was everything from bric-a-brac to furniture, clothing to carpets; you name it! It's the kind of place that has something for everyone, with pieces from super-pricey to cheap and cheerful, with an auction section too. We spent a good hour wandering around looking at the various bits and pieces, and we even spied a few items that would fit nicely in our new space, and of course I had to buy some super-awesome-delicious Japanese dip-glazed ramekins at a super bargain price.

If you are looking for Balmain Road Antiques Centre you will find it at 483a Balmain Rd, Lilyfield, NSW or you can visit their website for more information. I highly recommend taking the time to visit!

  3. I was there last week too...I like how the prices are still fair - go to Redfern these days, and that is a different story, don't you think??

  5. I've always wanted to go in there (it always seems to be closed). Glad to see it's affordable, most antique places are a little over the top.

  9. Admit it is a great shop with everything you can possibly think of in terms of art decor, retro, classic, vintage and antique. However I have had s bad experience and thought it is best the wider community should be aware of. If you are looking at selling or putting stuff on consignment, please consider my advice and steer away. I had some artifacts that they looked at, showed keen interest in them, and happily consigned them for an agreed value. I checked regularly but nothing to report for the first few weeks and in the second month, I found out that my contact had left and the owner had not done much. He was sort of stand offish, but told me to return in a few weeks, I kept in touch but was in no hurry and understood the consignment terms. A few weeks ago I had visited him with not much to share, I promised to return in a couple of weeks if I didn't hear from him. Last week I made my regular visit and was told that everything had sold but for less then the agreed price!! No email, phone etc. I had emailed him many times... with no responses, then I was told to return on a weekday to finalise payment. I returned, and was told he forgot, he took a copy of the consignment note, promising to call me the following day, once again no call, I called numerous times but no one answers and no voice mail, so emailed and again no joy. I returned and this time he gave me his mobile, told me to message him at 4pm that afternoon and he would have it sorted. So numerous messages, no reply, this time I went over and demanded a resolution, he made excuses and then was not sure how much her exactly sold the items for, had no records and receipts then he confirmed that he had sold the items for 1/3 of the agreed price and hadn't bothered calling or emailing to check if I was willing to sell, then he charged me a commission on top of this, ahhh finally he then didn't how much one of the items sold for and it will now the him another few days to figure that out. I was extremely disappointed and just wanted to move on so accepted a cheque for the amount minus the missing item. I was then told to hold off for a day before banking the cheque as he needs to transfer funds into the account???? What sort of an operation is this, I have taken business to legal stretches for less than that and fair trading would love to hear about Peter...!!

  10. Of course the cheque bounced!! He apologised and promised to have it transferred yesterday and told me to call him. I did no answer, many messages later I paid him a visit, he tells me that no point hassling him every day, I will get the payment when I get the payment. Furious to hear this I demanded my payment, reminding him that he has sold my items without records and now I am dealing with a bad cheque and a missing item. He promised me that it would be taken care of in 24 hours. Let see, or else he leaves me no choice.
