A jar full of thanks.

Nothing says 'thank you' quite so well as a little bit of handmade goodness. This week I had a few colleagues that I wanted to thank for helping me out, so I decided to put together a quick and crafty little token of my appreciation.

Dear little 'thank you' jars
This is a speedy and simple DIY that you can whip up in 15 minutes, but your friends or colleagues will appreciate your effort to say a personalised 'thank you'. Of course there are lots of possibilities with this concept, I'm just going to show you a teeny sample.

Gather your supplies
Find a few nice jars, I used a few sourced at the dollar store but you can use recycled ones if you have some around the house. You'll need a few bits of coloured paper, I have used some recycled wrapping paper and a few scraps that I had. I picked my sticker maker up on eBay, and the ribbon I used is from Typo.

I used a bunch of different sweet goodies to fill up my jars, some sugar-free sweets for a diabetic, some 'Reece's Peanut Butter Cups' for a Jewish friend (they're Kosher, you know), and some jelly beans. Being thoughtful about the content is as important as the decoration! There are a million different options for filling the jars, but a little sweet treat is a pretty sweet thank you.

I was going to make little swing-tags (hence the hole punch and washi tape in the materials list) but at the last minute I decided to make little personalised sticky labels using the sticker maker. I do like the look of swing tags though, perhaps next time I will add some.

Gorgeous little jars full of thanks
So there you go! A nice way to show your appreciation that is not only fun to make but is fun to give. I like the concept of a 'little jar full of thanks', I think I might experiment and try filling the jars with all kinds of things. Do you have any dear little suggestions?

  1. i do something similar for christmas. i make fudge, then wrap it up in aluminum foil, then wrap it up in some nice material, and then wrap that up in some see through sprakly pretty material, and tie it up with a bow. does that make sense? :)

  2. You are so sweet (pardon the pun! hehe!) and thoughtful :-)

I am a little lazy and usually opt for a box of chocolates or flowers, but I have always loved the jars with all the cookie ingredients layered like this:

  3. I love those too! I'm going to try those :)

  4. I love this idea! I usually fill a box with tiny candy and hide a note somewhere. I will definitely try this!

  5. A sticker maker??!! Clearly, this has been missing from my life. Amazing.

  6. I know, right? It wasn't expensive either, I think about $12 on eBay?

  7. I really like this and I have that sticker machine I love it!

  8. This is so cute. I love handmade gifts, it shows someone went out of their way instead of just buying something at the shop. Great ideas!

  9. yes! you used the sticker maker!! xx
